I participated in a fantastic webinar on the changing face of volunteers today.  The presenter was Jill Fixler, a long time Volunteer Coordinator and consultant.  I was surprised to learn Idaho ranks really high in both the percentage of persons who volunteer (34%) and the average number of hours volunteered.  Jill provided wonderful insights into how volunteers can be used

My First Books is a Read to Me program that has been successfully implemented since 1997. Formerly titled "Read to Me First Book," this program strengthens partnerships between public libraries and local schools, preschools, Head Start sites, and child care providers.

Credible Connections - A Rousing Success!

This week saw the beginning of Credible Connections - a networking opportunity for all libraries and rave reviews are rolling in!  These 2-hour networking sesions in Mountain Home, Hailey, Burley, Twin Falls and Buhl enabled representatives from libraries, Department of Labor, Adult Basic Education, economic development groups and local interested community members to discover the vast array of resources and develop a connection for the next successful partnership to strengthen their communities.
