Your Feedback, Our Solutions
One of the biggest challenges web developers face is having to undergo a site redesign. The stakeholders involved (including the people that have to use the darn thing!) usually have their own notions on how things should work or how they should be positioned on the screen. The key is to strike a balance between these varying opinions, the vision of what the site will be, industry best practices, time constraints, and budget concerns to come up with a design that fits it all together. Easy, right?

LSTA Advisory Council Seats Open
The Idaho Board of Library Commissioners is seeking nominations for two seats on the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Advisory Council. One seat is for an At Large Member (a member from any type of library: public, school, academic, or special) from the northern Idaho area to fill a position vacated with one year remaining in the appointment.

BTOP grant proposal update
Our Public Computing Center application has passed the first step of the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program evaluation process. As of May 18, our application is in the due diligence phase. In the next few days we expect to receive a Supplemental Information Request with the reviewers’ follow-up questions.

Urgent! Public Libraries Must Respond by July 2 to be part of the BTOP Candidate Pool
All public library directors should have received an e-mail last Friday addressing the candidate pool for our Broadband Technology Opportunity Program (BTOP) grant proposal. Over the spring we’ve heard from a number of libraries that their reported connectivity speed is incorrect.

ICfL welcomes new SW/south central field consultant
Since arriving at the Commission in late May to assume field consultant responsibilities for southwest and south central public libraries, Kevin Tomlinson has been visiting libraries, meeting people, and participating in meetings—taking in as much as he can about the Idaho library community.

ICfL Board of Commissioners tours Idaho libraries
Idaho Board of Library Commissioners met for a regularly scheduled meeting on Friday, October 14, 2011 in American Falls after touring the Idaho State University library and the Century High School library in Pocatello—as well as public libraries in McCammon, Lava Hot Springs, Soda Springs, and Malad—on Thursday.

Read to Me Annual Meeting, March 5 – 6, 2012
For the past fifteen years, the Idaho Read to Me program has brought together library staff from around the state who are actively reaching out to Idaho families to promote early literacy, or who would like to begin early literacy outreach efforts.
