eAudiobooks MARC Records
During this past month, 40 new titles were added to the collection of downloadable audiobooks available through LiLI eAudioBook Collection (LiLI ABC). The batch of MARC records for those new titles and a title list is available at http://libraries.idaho.gov/marcdownload.

Next Generation ILS: Mashed-up, Fried or Half-Baked?
The morning session of Next Generation: Mashed-up, Fried or Half-Baked?, a symposium sponsored by BCR and Idaho Commission for Libraries in Boise, Idaho, provided an overview of open-source software. Marshall Breeding, Director for Innovative Technologies and Research, Jean and Alexander Heard Library at Vanderbilt University, provided the 20,000 foot view.

Next Generation ILS: Tuesday

Darien Library - Future of the ILS going on now?
Take a look at the new Darien Library (CT) Website. The site was unveiled September 1st. The website is running in Drupal, the same content management software used by ICFL (see the sneak peek of the new ICFL site) * and many other libraries in Idaho.

LiLI-D Trial Databases
Trial Database Information for potential products for LiLI-D replacements
These trials have been set up for the evaluators who are reviewing the possible replacement products for LiLI-D. Please feel free to try out any or all of these databases. LiLI eAudiobooks MARC Records
Last week I sent a note to LibIdaho informing everyone of the availability of MARC records for the September additions. A number of people have informed ICFL of there being some sort of error with the files. We have been working on this over the past few days. Fresh batch files for September and August have been acquired and were tested by a couple organizations.

Changes to the LiLI-D Lineup
After numerous delays, we can now announce the results of the 2008 RFP for replacement databases to LiLI-D. Some of the databases in LiLI-D will be changing on January 1, 2009.

Each month, Recorded Books adds new titles to the NetLibrary collection of eaudiobooks available to Idaho residents through the LiLI eAudioBooks Collection (LiLI ABC). MARC records for the items added in the past month are now available for download to add to the library's local catalog.

LiLI Portal Improvements
The LiLI Portal is about to get some structural improvements. While the content accessible through the Portal will remain consistent, the interface that leads users to the LiLI Databases, Idaho digital content, and the LiLI Unlimited statewide catalog is going through some changes this summer.

LiLI Steering Committee Changes
The LiLI Steering Committee operates in partnership with the ICFL staff to plan, initiate and evaluate LiLI services. Members of the Steering Committee serve a 4-year term, and they participate in meetings 3-4 times each year and electronically between those meetings.

Cataloging & ILL Training for OCLC Users
ICFL is providing cataloging and ILL training for any library staff that use OCLC's CatExpress or ILL tools. This training is ideal as a refresher or for new staff who have never used the tools before.
3 workshops are being offered covering topics of Searching WorldCat, Using CatExpress for Copy Cataloging, and introduction to OCLC's Interlibrary Loan (WorldCat Resource Sharing).
