Read to Me is sponsoring a training session August 1, 2008 for library staff who will be participating in the Read to Me First Book program and the new Every Child Ready to Read Project. As I was preparing a list of banned/challenged books for the September 26th ediition of The Scoop, I ran across an interesting statistic.

In the School Zone section of the Oct. 10 issue of The Scoop, we talk about the importance and benefits of collaboration. We'd love to hear your personal stories of successes and challenges. This is also a great opportunity to practice blogging for those of you taking the Splat 101! course...!

The Read to Me program has paperback copies of How I Became a Pirate, by Melinda Long for Idaho public libraries who are planning events during Idaho Family Reading Week, November 16 – 22, 2008. Just complete the form by October 29th and we’ll send you books to give to families.

The 2009 National Book Festival was held on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Marj Hooper and Pam Bradshaw from the Idaho Commission for Libraries represented Idaho in the Pavilion of the States, promoting reading, sharing information about Idaho literacy and library programs, and answering questions about Idaho writers and libraries.
