EatPlayGrow™ - Micro-Grant now open!

We’ve sweetened the pot to encourage Idaho public library staff to apply for the final year of the EatPlayGrow™ program. Your library can receive up to $500 to support health programming efforts aimed at preschoolers and their parents. Applications for this micro-grant program are open now through January 10, 2018.

The Commission is now accepting applications for Bright Futures Summer Outreach Programs. These opportunities are designed to reach more children with library summer reading programs, especially those considered "underserved." Each program is designed to achieve specific outcomes and participating libraries mus report results in the ICfL annual summer reading programs report.

Read to Me Rendezvous 2017: Idaho Libraries Rocked!

Approximately 80 public and school library staff attended the Read to Me Rendezvous on November 2 – 3, 2017 in Boise. Because there are so many new faces in the Idaho library community, the Read to Me staff wanted to create an agenda that would benefit the wide-range of experience currently existing among those who serve children, especially pre- and beginning readers.

Idaho Family Reading Week 2017 now open for registration!

The third week of November is Idaho Family Reading Week, when families are encouraged to read together. This year's theme, "Tell Me a Tale," will be celebrated at public and school libraries across the Gem State, November 12-18, 2017.

$200,000 Awarded to Schools throughout Idaho

BOISE, ID – The Idaho Commission for Libraries (ICfL) awarded $200,000 to 47 elementary schools throughout Idaho for the purchase of books to serve students pre-kindergarten through first grade and to allow five schools to open their libraries during the summer. The funds were in the form of mini-grants, for amounts between $1,000 and $5,000, each.
