Caregivers for Older Adults
Idaho has seen an influx of the elderly as many choose the state as a place to retire. Idaho's cost of living is lower, and they can afford a lifestyle that is more comfortable. As they move closer to family, family members are taking on caregiving roles.
The increase in the older population in Idaho has significance for Idaho libraries as a balance is needed between offering information and programs for the seniors as well as for the families that care for them. This article offers information and resources for librarians encountering the aging and their families. Additionally, there is an increased need for researchers to have access to data and information on this population as it continues to grow. Finally, the article is followed by an annotated bibliography that provides a variety of resources for researchers, caregivers, and the senior population.
