ICfL Sponsors Free Pre-Conference at ILA: Transforming Your Library into a Brain Health Center

The Idaho Commission for Libraries is excited to announce their sponsorship of a full day pre-conference on October 3. Discover the role our brain plays in healthy aging and explore ways all types of libraries can support a healthy brain lifestyle in the programs and services they offer. The workshop will be presented by Dr. Paul Nussbaum and Stephen Ristau and will focus on innovative ways that libraries can improve and enhance services for patrons in regards to brain health. The agenda includes presentations and small-group work sessions.

Topics for the day include:

  • Foundation for Brain Health – Keynote by Dr. Nussbaum Brain Health Center Model
    • A framework for designing a consumer-friendly experience that promotes brain health for families and
      communities of all ages.
  • Building a Brain Health Center
    • Small work groups focus on identifying the collections, databases, resources, partnerships, etc. regarding the mental, physical, socialization, nutritional and spiritual components of Brain Healthy Lifestyle (asset and gap analysis).
  • Small Groups Report Out on Key Findings and Gaps
  • Summary of Day’s Work and Next Steps
