Energy Kit Lending Program - Project Report
In May 2010, Idaho libraries began loaning Energy Efficiency Kit as part of a statewide program funded by Idaho Power Company, Avista Utilities, and Rocky Mountain Power. 245 kits were put into circulation. In the first year of the program, kits were checked out by library customers 1,139 times.
The project report with results from the first year is now available. Some highlights:
- When asked about customer feedback, 93% of survey respondents indicated customers were either "satisfied" or "very satified" with the program.
- Total project costs were $8,081.08, where the value of the energy meters would have cost consumers $18,725 to purchase retail.
- One customer reported saving $36 per month on her power bill as a result of what she learned by using the meter.
Energy Efficiency Kits will remain in circulation at Idaho libraries. A few spare meters are available for libraries needing replacements due to lost or damaged equipment. For more information about the program, contact lili@libraries.idaho.gov.
