Over the past six years, the Idaho Commission for Libraries (ICfL) has funded mini-grants to 121 Idaho elementary school libraries, who then increased access to books for their youngest students. This year, ICfL is pleased to add a School Library Access (SLA) Mini-Grant to support older elementary students, as well.

The 2018-2019 School Library Access Mini-Grant application deadline is:

February 23, 2018;

And the options are:

1. Elementary School Library Access (SLA) Mini-Grant: Publicly funded elementary schools serving Kindergarten and First Grade students that have never received an SLA Mini-Grant are eligible to apply. There is no eligibility requirement around student income level, nor is there a requirement for a Pre-K program. Priority is given, however, to those schools with higher levels of poverty and developmental Pre-K programs. Schools may apply for $1,000-$5,000 to buy books that are appropriate for Pre-K, K, and 1st grade students.

2. Schools that have received the original Elementary SLA Mini-Grant are eligible to apply for our newest Mini-Grant, the Elementary School Library Access Mini-Grant – Round 2 (Round 2).  Eligible schools who received any SLA Mini-Grant grant prior to the 2015-2016 school year can apply for additional grant funds to support access for all students at the school. The Round 2 grant supports the adoption of best practices and district funding for the school library. Schools may apply for $1,000 -$5,000 to support a culture of literacy throughout all the grades in the school.

Apply for an SLA Mini-Grant to bring students the books they need to become excellent readers! Find the grant applications with all the goals, requirements, and details at
