Celebrate with AASL's theme for 2014, Lives change @ your library!  Go to  AASL's website to download public service announcements from Jeff Kinney, author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, school library month posters, and lots more.   Use April to toot your own horn and draw some much deserved attention to the important work done in school libraries.

If National School Library Month isn't enough to be getting on with, April is also National Poetry Month!  In addition to activities like open mic, poetry slams, poetry readings, and contests, on April 18th the the Academy of American Poets brings us Poem in your Pocket Day.  People all over the country select a poem to carry with them throughout the day and share with others.  Perhaps when you see a poem taken from a pocket and unfolded in your school, there could be a fun small reward like a pencil or a little Mars Bars (get it? it rhymes!).   For younger kids, templates are available for them to make their own pockets at the Poem in your Pocket website.

Kick off the 4th quarter in style with poetry in your school library!
