e-branch Upgrade on April 22nd

We’ve scheduled an upgrade to the e-branch in a box service for the morning of Sunday, April 22nd, beginning at approximately 8am, expected to finish by 12 noon. Downtime per individual library web site is expected to be approximately 10 minutes.
This means that individual e-branch web sites may be unavailable during their upgrade (hopefully for only 5-10 minutes). We ask that site administrators not edit their content or alter their sites during this time to prevent data loss.
Please note the LiLI Portal (www.lili.org) is not affected by these updates and will remain available as usual.
We’ll send an email to LibIdaho when the upgrade process is complete.
Why are we doing this? So that the e-branch project can:
- Stay current with Drupal and its security updates. (Drupal is the software underlying e-branch).
- Take advantage of new features and enhancements, such as
- The new “Garland” theme which will allow sites to pick their own color scheme.
- An improved Administrator’s interface. (You may have to re-learn where to look for a few links, but in the end, the new administrator layout makes it easier to find what you want.)
- Improvements to the Content Editor – now you can set your font size and color, and you can have the system automatically clean up your copy and paste from Word.
We’ve prepared video screencasts introducing you to these changes, and hope they'll make the transition easier for you.
Please note: some of the instructions in the training materials you received in past training sessions will become out-of-date. Much of that information is contained in the online Handbook (http://libraries.idaho.gov/page/handbook) and you should get used to considering that the authoritative source for e-branch how-to information. We'll be updating the handbook to coincide with this and future upgrades. If there’s anything you feel is missing from the online handbook – let us know and we’ll add it!
If you have questions or concerns about this upgrade, please let us know. We’ve attempted to pick a day and time when the impact of this interruption will be minimal.
We have established a process for managing change within the e-branch system, if you are interested.
