Boomers -- How to Engage
ICFL is collaborating with three other states (California, Oregon and Washington) to construct a grant request for consideration by the Laura Bush Foundation to support a year-long fellowship to explore new models for developing library relationships with Boomers and to identify methods in which libraries can engage effectively with the local Boomer population. Participants would be involved in a year-long series of activities, culminating in a day-long Institute.
“Transforming Life After 50 Institute” was held last November in California, sponsored by the Libraries for the Future – a third such event was convened last summer.
The Idaho Commission on Aging reports that currently the boomer population is 16% of the total population, however by 2020, that figure will rise to 25%.
I would like to identify the interest among those of you in the Idaho library community who might be interested in either applying as a participant or assisting on the Advisory Committee. If this grant is approved, it would be at least 6 months to a year before the activities begin in earnest.
