Demographics from Pew/Internet

The Pew Internet Project Data has released a January 2009 report on the demographics of Internet use.

Some interesting points..."the biggest increase in internet use since 2005 can be seen in the 70-75 year-old age group"..."teens and Generation Y access entertainment and social networks online"..."Older generations use the internet as a tool for research, shopping, and banking"..."some online activities... are now being done more equally across all generations."

Check it out! Some great demographics. Also you will find reports about Latinos Online and A Portrait of Early Internet Adopters.

"email is for old people" says teens

I think that email is quickly outliving it's use among certain demographics. I hope it's an area of interest for many libraries to see how to reach out to that group. Thanks, Shirley, for posting this!
