Alternative Basic Library Education is a series of 12 online, self-directed courses that cover Collection Development, Technical Services, and Public Services.  This is perfect for anyone who is even remotely interested in entering the world of librarianship!  Designed to meet the information needs of individuals who have little or no background in librarianship, these short courses provide the basics in library operations.

If you are new to your library, or are just interested in learning about the work flow, jump in and take these self-directed classes.  At the end of each module, you can request a "Certificate of Completion" to add to your learning documentation.

These courses have been online since the late 1990's and are nationally recognized by various library schools and other state certification programs as excellent learning tools.

Also available is Supplemental Alternative Basic Library Education, which focuses on youth services.
