Six library staff members from around the state received the Library Support Staff Certification (LSSC) Registration Assistance Award. LSSC, a program managed by the American Library Association-Allied Professional Association, offers library employees the opportunity to enhance library service and increase their knowledge and skills in areas such as the foundations of librarianship, technology, and communication. This national certification is a valuable tool that will travel with the candidates regardless of geographic location.

 The award covers one-half of the candidate registration fee for the certification program. Idaho’s LSSC Registration Assistance Award recipients are:

•  Joan Smith, Library Assistant, College of Western Idaho 
•  Jody Pettit, Director, Priest Lake Public Library
•  Miranda Galbraith, Young Adult Programming/Cataloging Librarian, Madison Library District
•  Shelly Doty, Instruction and Research Services, Albertsons Library— Boise State University
•  Susan Nay, Assistant Director/Technical Services, Burley Public Library
•  Valerie Bame, Children’s Librarian, Burley Public Library
