Apply Now for Bright Futures Summer Outreach Programs

The Commission is now accepting applications for Bright Futures Summer Outreach Programs. These opportunities are designed to reach more children with library summer reading programs, especially those considered "underserved." Each program is designed to achieve specific outcomes and participating libraries mus report results in the ICfL annual summer reading programs report. These programs are funded with a grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services.

Who may apply: Publicly-funded libraries in Idaho

Note: All libraries participating in a Bright Futures Outreach Program must formally evaluate their summer reading program.

Parent Outreach
Plan at least one event for parents and caregivers, communicate summer learning loss talking points, hand out paperback books.
Deadline: March 21, 2018

Strengthening School Partnerships
Develop a Reading Challenge with the elementary school principal and school librarian to increase participation in the library's summer reading program. Receive a partnership package of hardcover books, paperback books, and promotional banner for the library and each partner school.
Deadline: March 21, 2018

Summer Outreach to Underserved Children
Take the library's summer reading program out into the community and receive paperback books and bookmarks to give to children ages birth to 18.
Deadline: May 1, 2018

Before you apply for any Bright Futures program please meet with your staff to determine which person will submit the applicaton(s). Please also contact libraries that may serve the same schools as yours, and determine which libraries will serve the schools in your area. As applications are accepted we will post an up-to-date chart of all libraries, the programs they are participating in, and their partner schools:
