Apply Now for Bright Futures Summer Reading Opportunities
The Commission is now accepting applications for Bright Futures Summer Outreach Programs. These opportunities are designed to reach more children with summer reading programs, especially those considered “underserved.” Each program is designed to achieve specific outcomes and participating libraries must report results in the ICfL annual summer reading programs report. These programs are funded in part with a grant from the Library Services and Technology Act.
Who may apply: Publicly-funded public libraries in Idaho
Deadline: March 20, 2013
Click on each program for more information:
School Visits: Receive branded drawstring backpacks to hand out to children when you visit elementary schools to promote your summer reading program (K - 6th grade only).
Reaching Underserved Children: Take your summer reading program out in the community and receive paperback books to give to children ages birth to 18.
School Partnerships: Develop a collaborative plan with the elementary school principal and school librarian to increase participation in the library's summer reading program. Receive a promotional package including hardcover books and summer reading banner for the library and each partner school.
Before you apply please meet with your staff to determine which person will submit the application(s). Please also contact libraries that may serve the same schools as you, and determine which libraries will serve the various elementary schools in your area. As applications are accepted we will post an up-to-date chart of all libraries, programs, and schools that have been submitted: http://libraries.idaho.gov/summer-reading.
