Developing Volunteer Management Skills

If you need support as a volunteer coordinator, are considering creating a volunteer program in your library, or want to take your volunteer program to the next level, joining an organization especially for volunteer managers might be the answer.  Volunteer managers realize the important role they play in helping their organization meet its mission.  Participating in a volunteer management organization provides support, continuing education, and opportunities to network with others in the field.

Southwest Idaho Directors of Volunteer Services, (http://www.swidovs.org/) meets almost monthly with timely topics on all aspects of volunteer management. Any interested person can attend meetings without being a member, but of course, membership offers more.

If you don't live in southwest Idaho, Serve Idaho provides volunteer management workshops at its annual conference in early spring.

If there currently is not an organization that supports volunteer managers in your community, maybe it's time to start one.  Contact Southwest Idaho Directors of Volunteer Services to get started.
