Behind the Scenes with Poet Laureate Philip Levine
On Friday, May 4, Philip Levine, the 18th Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry at the Library of Congress, connected with five high schools and five public libraries across the U.S. via video conference over Internet2 to read and discuss three of his poems: “OurValley,” “The Simple Truth,” and “What Work Is.” Ada Community Library Star Branch was one of the five library locations nationwide selected to participate! Over 40 people attended event on site at the library, including an IB (International Baccalaureate) from North Star Charter School and school administrator Dr. Larry Rogien.
This event was streamed live on the Web and an archive is available at http://video.magpi.net/videos/video/415/.
The event was made possible by the Library of Congress in partnership with the Internet2K20Initiative, and MAGPI, and with technical support for the Ada Community Library Star Branch from the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) and Idaho Regional Optical Network (IRON).
