"Financial literacy" resources that Idaho libraries provide

Teresa.Lipus's picture

Does your library offer “financial literacy” resources or workshops on topics such as home-buying, foreclosure intervention, debt elimination, loan qualifying, or investing? If so, here is a chance to highlight another valuable service that Idaho libraries provide to their communities:
On April 1, Governor Otter proclaimed April as Financial Literacy Month (http://finance.idaho.gov/PR/2009/PressRelFinLitMonth09.pdf). The Idaho Department of Finance website includes a Financial Literacy page with links to financial tips and other informational websites, and several educational presentations will be offered throughout the month. If your library offers financial literacy resources or has upcoming workshops in April, you might want to tie in with Financial Literacy Month.

In addition, the Idaho Commission for Libraries would like to hear about any tools that you provide to your community so we can encourage the Governor to identify Idaho’s libraries as another resource for financial literacy. Please contact me at teresa.lipus@libraries.idaho.gov, or comment here, regarding what financial literacy resources your library offers.

    Great initiative

I wish these things are initiated in a wider range so as to take the awareness of financial literacy to most people.
It will stop crisis like the Sub-Prime which just rages on and on engulfing the whole world and its economy.
