For SW Idaho public libraries: Heart Health displays

February is National Heart Month. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare invites public libraries in Southwestern Idaho to host a Heart Health display in their libraries during the second half of February. This includes public libraries in districts 3, 4, and 5.

All display materials will be provided free of charge to any public library in southwestern Idaho that would like to participate. 50 of each of the following materials will be provided:

  • Bookmark - Know the Signs and Symptoms
  • Wallet Tracker - Know Your Numbers
  • Walking card - Walk for Your Heart and Head Health
  • Brochure – What You Need to Know About Heart Disease and Stroke
  • Cook books – Your Plan to Eating More
  • Handout - Fruits & Veggies More Matters
  • Information Guide - Stay Active and Independent for Adults 65 +
  • Handout – Your Quit Date: Today
Additionally, two copies of Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions and one copy of Exercise & Physical Activity: Your Everyday Guide from the Nation Institute on Aging pamphlet will be donated participating libraries.

Over the course of the last few months, the Idaho Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Public Education Subcommittee developed messaging about the signs and symptoms of heart attack and importance of calling 911 immediately. In December 2010, the Eagle Public Library piloted a display of the materials for the Subcommittee. The display was well received. See photo above.
