National Gaming Day Debriefing, or How One Library Hosted a Big Event: in ten installments, Chapter 6

NGD Rock Band Director Laura singing

NGD minus 5 & 4 days: (Everything begins to run together. I don't know what day is what. Hope I haven't totally missed a desk duty!) Unbox the Game Stop purchases, realize that the controllers they sold me must plug into wiimotes. Panic while I wait for store to open. Nice guy Taylor at store says bring 'em back -- he heard me say that we didn't have enough wiimotes and this was one reason we wanted other controllers (also, they are less expensive.) Abandon under-staffed library after lunch to exchange controllers. Apologize to over-worked staff for recent and current abandonments due to NGD. Receive cheerful "Don't worry about it!" Gush my thanks on the way out the door.

Get really bloody nose from sunlight induced sneeze on freeway return trip from Game Stop. Pull over and spend five precious minutes getting it to stop and cleaning it up the best I can. Work rest of day with blood stained shirt. Wonder if stress can cause bloody noses. Worry about the live tournament. Try to let NGD stuff go as much as possible for rest of day. Other people are making things happen. Pitch in as fast as I can to do some regular library duties. People are calling and asking about NGD. People are volunteering to help.
