This organization helps people gain independent living skills by teaching Braille and many life skills. They also sponsor the Radio Reading Service which allows people to hear the Idaho Statesman (in the Boise calling area).

Provides Independent Living programs, computer training, and Braille transcription services for blind and partially sighted people of all ages.
Provides alternate format documents to print-disabled individuals. Turns documents into any alternate format, from hard copy or electronic file.
Users with high speed Internet access can select from more than 2000 titles to download to their computers. They can then listen to the book on the computer or transfer it to a MP3 player. Titles cannot be transferred to an iPod.
The collection includes best sellers, books club favorites, and timeless classics, CEV Holy Bible Collection, children's and young adult titles, and the Pimsleur Language Series.

Recorded books are provided to the Talking Book Service by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped of the Library of Congress.
The collection contains fiction and non-fiction in several genres, formats, and languages.
Finding aids:
Of special interest are local and regional titles (VCTs) recorded by volunteers in the Talking Book Service recording studio.
VCTs are also part of the Talking Book Catalog.
Users can receive Braille books directly from the Talking Book Library in Salt Lake City. Contact the Idaho Talking Book Service to enroll in this service.

Users with computers can also download electronic Braille books via Web-Braille. Contact the Talking Book Service for a password to access Web-Braille books.

More than 70 popular magazines can be received in cassette or large print format. These titles are only available to registered users of the Idaho Talking Book Service.

Talking Book Service books and magazines require a special playback machine to listen to them.
Patrons are loaned a machine, which they may keep as long as they use the Talking Book Services
Operating instructions are included with each machine, or check out this video
Machines needing service or repair should be returned to the library. A replacement machine will be promptly sent to the patron, free of charge.
