Blow My Mind
I lost my vision secondary to an illness called Intracranial Hypertension (IH). I likely had this as a child, although it went mis-diagnosed and undiagnosed until I was about 30. IH is a serious neurological disorder in which high cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure within the skull causes unbearable headaches, swelling of the optic nerve, and often results in loss of vision.

Applications sought for PLA Results Boot Camp 5; Deadline Extended
Applications are now being accepted for the Public Library Association's (PLA) intensive library management training, Results Boot Camp 5, to be held October 12-16, 2009, in Seattle, Washington. The deadline has been extended thru September 18, 2009.

Using Online Educational Opportunities

WJ Courses -- Some Hints to Maximize your Learning

I just finished a WJ Idaho course via the vendor Skillsoft. This is my third course and I took time to play with the course. Sometimes, I am linear and forget to look go beyond the bounds. This happens a lot of times when I am learning ... a product of how I behaved during my educational years 6-18!!

Google Voice & Libraries
If you sign up for Google Voice you can get an invitation to join - which means a bunch of cool beta features. You get a phone number, which you can use to see voice mail messages all nice and typed out for you. You get to text to individuals for free. You also get discounts on international calls.
