With the economy on all our minds and recent media coverage of Idaho’s budget situation, many individuals have been wondering about the status of the LiLI Database (LiLI-D) program. This presents a very good opportunity to share the current plans regarding LiLI-D.

As previously announced, the statewide access to the eaudiobooks through NetLibrary will end September 30th at Midnight. That is TOMORROW.

• Users may download and check out eaudiobooks any time through September 30th. Their accounts will be closed as of 12:01am October 1st.

Not long ago, the Idaho Commission for Libraries announced that plans were underway for a format change to the LiLI Portal. Information, updates, and a link to the wireframe of the new format are available on our LiLI Portal Update webpage.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Consumer Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports, entered into an exclusive agreement with a single database provide. Idaho residents can still access full text of Consumer Reports content published from January 1996 – January 2009 through the LiLI Databases.

Training Description: ProQuest Central offers a large number of product reviews that can be helpful to consumers. Join ProQuest trainer Karen Hinton to get an overview of options available to those searching for product reviews. Karen will also cover content, functions, and features of, as well as tips for using, ProQuest Central.

ICFL is providing cataloging and ILL training for any library staff that use OCLC's CatExpress or ILL tools. This training is ideal as a refresher or for new staff who have never used the tools before.

3 workshops are being offered covering topics of Searching WorldCat, Using CatExpress for Copy Cataloging, and introduction to OCLC's Interlibrary Loan (WorldCat Resource Sharing).

The LiLI Steering Committee operates in partnership with the ICFL staff to plan, initiate and evaluate LiLI services. Members of the Steering Committee serve a 4-year term, and they participate in meetings 3-4 times each year and electronically between those meetings.

The meeting notes from the June 24, 2009, meeting of the LiLI Steering Committee have been posted.

The meeting included a length discussion regarding broadband infrastructure, reports on the status of LiLI Programs, and updates from participants about activities in their region of the state.
