The State Department of Education has two new brochures available that you may want to use in your ECRTR workshops. “A Parent Guide to Reading: What Your Child Needs to Know in Kindergarten Through Grade 3” and “Idaho Reading Indicator Parent Information.” Stephanie has 400 copies of both brochures for ECRTR participants and will be sending them out as part of the “supplies” for new orders. If you want some now, please contact Stephanie.

Heads Up on Read to Me Meeting Dates: The annual Read to Me meeting will be held March 11-12, 2010 in Boise. The focus will be out reaching underserved families. We’ll get another dose of ECRTR information from national consultant Saroj Ghoting. Mark your calendars now. More information coming soon!

Did you know? Scores from the fall, 2009 Idaho Reading Indicator show that 18.7 percent of children entering kindergarten do not recognize three or more letters of the alphabet. Another 25 percent recognize fewer than 11 letters.

Our research shows ECRTR makes a big difference in helping prepare Idaho children for kindergarten. Keep up the good work!
