  • February 11 ~ Advocacy in Action ARCHIVE

In this session, members of the Idaho Library Community discuss advocacy and what it means to them, what their library has done, and information about the upcoming Turning the Page advocacy training program.

In this session, members of the Idaho Library Community discuss the 7 Keys for Community nchor Institutions as presented by the Harwood Institute.  They shared their stories in helping to shape community-based strategies, developing leadership, and encouraging innovation.  Information about the PNLA LEADS Institute for 2013 was shared.

  • April 15 - Technology ~ What's New? ARCHIVE

In this session, members of the Idaho Library Community discussed the use of mobile devices in their libraries, and shared favorite apps.  Other information was presented about the National Ad Council Everyoneon campaign and upcoming webinars for staying on top of technology trends.

In this session, resources for digital literacy training were shared.  While the focus was on school environments, there are good tools usable in any library setting.  Digital literacy is defined as demonstrating the use technology tools to find, use, and share information; find and use consumer and workforce development tools; and connect with people in a safe, online, social environment.  Check out resources at http://lili.org, http://webjunction.org, and http://guides.lili.org/digitalliteracy

To access library professional development online courses, applicants must work for a publicly funded library located in Idaho and be approved to receive a course code by completing  the COURSE REQUEST
FORM at http://libraries.idaho.gov/freetraining ~  Review the Infopeople Course Catalog to identify a course and then fill out the Course Request Form. Eligible courses are those that instruct attendees on library work flow, services or programming. Also available through Infopeople are free Webinars check out the upcoming titles and the archives.
