 <title>School Library Partnerships</title>

 <description>&lt;h3&gt;School Library Partnerships: Building strong libraries, building powerful students&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;is a collaborative effort which includes the Idaho Commission for Libraries, &lt;a href=&quot;http://idahopta.net/idaho_voice.html&quot;&gt;Idaho Parent-Teacher Association&lt;/a&gt;, Idaho school libraries, BSU Albertsons Library and the Department of Education. &lt;p&gt;Continuing Education activities provided by the Idaho Commission for Libraries (as of January 1, 2009) &lt;strong&gt;MAY &lt;/strong&gt;be eligible for use as professional development credit by certificated Library Media Specialists.  As per teacher &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.sde.idaho.gov/site/teacher_certification/renewal_cert_cred.htm&quot;&gt;certification renewal guidelines &lt;/a&gt;from Idaho State Department of Education, three of the 6 required credits must be taken for university or college credit.  However, in-service hours may be used as a substitute for up to three of the six semester credit hours required for certificate renewal.  Fifteen (15) contact hours are equivalent to one in-service hour.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The following ICFL continuing education activities have been approved by the State Department of Education Certification office as Professional Development in-service:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;li&gt;ICFL Alternative Basic Library Education and Supplemental Alternative Basic Library Education&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;How will I know if the ICFL continuing education workshops/courses I take qualify? &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Discuss with your school district superintendent or professional development chairperson the courses you wish to take.  Provide information about the course, including content, value to your work as a library media specialist, number of contact or clock hours and course provider.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>School Library Statistics</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;SCHOOL LIBRARY/MEDIA CENTERS PILOT STUDY -- DRAFT TABLES&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
The following PDF and Excel files contain preliminary results of the Idaho School Libraries/Media Centers Survey conducted in the 2007-2008 school year.  About 120 school libraries/media centers are represented out of an estimated total of 735.  These results are in no way intended to be conclusive or otherwise representative of the entire universe of Idaho school libraries.  This is so, mainly because the &quot;sample&quot; is neither random nor sufficiently large for it to be statistically significant.  Nevertheless, the data will be used in conjunction with the forthcoming impact study recently conducted by RSL Research Group.  These data will also prove useful in designing and implementing an annual statistical survey for school libraries, one similar to those which have been conducted for public and academic libraries for many decades now. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;For now, consider these tables as a first draft.  Expect corrections, changes in formats, additions, and graphical enhancements as the semester progresses.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>In-Service: After the Event</title>

 <description>&lt;h3&gt;Critical Learning Skills in the 21st Century:  Collaborating for Student Success&lt;/h3&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The March 2009  three-day in-service brought together teacher-librarians, science teachers, and their VIPs to focus on expanding services for student learning and access to information and education resources through school library media centers.  The free event was made possible by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Idaho Commission for Libraries.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Outcomes&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Participants left ready to use the Big6 model in developing lesson plans that incorporate the LiLI Databases.   &lt;/p&gt;
