Off to ALA MidWinter
Tomorrow I will be heading to Seattle to participate in the ALA MidWinter meeting. First, this is an exciting event simply because it's located in Seattle. Travel time by air will be just about 1 hour... a record for ALA conference participation in my book!
Aside from the delight in visiting with and learning from colleagues in this national setting, for me, this ALA MidWinter Meeting will include a number of committee meetings, informational sessions, Council meetings, and other events. My desire is to keep some notes and share the ALA experience with my colleagues in Idaho that aren't able to join us in Seattle.
So, stay tuned to this space (or to your RSS feed) to hear all about the excitement going on with ALA. I'll do what I can to share what's it's really like. So, what's on the list so far?
- A pre-conference symposium about social networking titled "Who's watching YOUR space?"
- A planning session with the Rethinking Resource Sharing Forum
- My first Council meeting as the ILA representative
- Learning about the future plans for WorldCat.org and the future of our own LiLI Unlimited group catalog
- The LITA Top Tech Trends panel discussion
And more... there are a lot of options for programs and discussion groups to attend. I'm waiting to see how the rest of my schedule works out and can't wait to see what happens!
