Librarians selected to participate are required to:
 

1. Conduct at least one training session (a minimum of two to three hours), or a series of training sessions that total at least three hours, aimed at child care providers.

 

2. Co-sponsor the training with a local child care resource and referral agency, an early childhood education organization, Success by Six, school district, child care coalition or other organization. Having a co-presenter is recommended.

 

3. Ask the attending child care providers to sign a “Child Care Reads” pledge and complete an evaluation of the workshop.

 

4. Distribute the books at the end of the training session. The collections can go to family or center-based child care providers as long as they serve at least three children other than their own. More than one child care provider per daycare/center can attend the training, but only one set of books can go to each site.

 

5. Fill out an evaluation form on the project and return any extra collections of books within one week of the training.
