Miscellaneous Projects

Miscellaneous Projects

Miscellaneous Projects are those projects that are important, meaningful and encourage participation by specific targeted groups or the entire community. They bring people into the library or take the library to the community for a fun filled, informative, relationship building learning adventure.

Projects Targeting the Teen Population

T04221-00 A big hit with the kids, this Kootenai Shoshone Area Library Teen Panel grant, was an Advocacy grant involving teens in the creation and production of PSA's promoting local businesses. The spots aired as public service announcements on the local television channel.

T06357-00 This Boise Public Library grant supported an Author Visit hosted by the Teen Advisory Board. The author visited public and school libraries in the area, encouraging teens to write and answering their questions.

Projects Targeting the Under-Served Zero to Eighteen Population

T07351-00 This Kootenai Shoshone Area Libraries’ grant developed an outreach service that helped to connect with underserved children through age 18, who are unable to physically utilize the libraries in their area. This grant provided the resources and support necessary to conduct programs and projects with these age groups. Two essentials of the program were a deposit collection and books that were given to the children throughout the program to give them a small collection of their own.

Projects Providing a Community Assessment

T08359-00 The Lewiston Public Library's Civic Technologies grant gave the library a clear picture of the patrons and non users, their age group, lifestyle, as well as where they live. This information helps the library make wise measured decisions on funding allocation, program design, and a wide variety of other decisions to better serve their clientele and bring those non-users through their doors.

Library Materials Drop Box Project

T07355-00 The Ada Community Library applied to expand their library services in areas of the county that had an increasing number of library patrons. This project supported 2 library materials drop boxes, providing patrons a closer physical connection to the library. The patron places a hold on materials and the library delivers and picks up the materials from the drop box which saves the patron a trip to the library, the drop box being located nearer to the patrons home.
