Volunteer Services
Volunteers enhance the efforts of the Idaho Commission for Libraries staff in all areas. We depend on our volunteers to help us meet the needs of our customers. Training will be provided for all positions.
Time Required:
2-4 hours per week during library hours, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Positions Available:
Clerical
- Word Processing – A variety of projects are available from transcription to production typing
- Data Entry – Projects include data entry into online library database, maintenance of electronic library catalog, Excel spreadsheets, and Word tables
- Filing – Alpha and numeric
- Bulk Mailing – Projects support material requests
- Circulation
- Inspect and shelve returned materials
- Recycle shipping containers and cassette tapes
- Clean exteriors of Talking Book machines
Technical
- Machine Repair – repair and maintenance of Talking Book equipment (tools provided)
- Recording – record local interest books and magazines
- Narrator – narrates books and magazines of local interest. Anyone wishing to apply for this position must pass a narration audition test.
- Monitor – operates computer with digital audio recording software, while following the narration in a print copy of the text.
- Reviewer – operates computer with digital audio recording software. Proof read previously recorded material.
