Volunteer Services

Volunteers enhance the efforts of the Idaho Commission for Libraries staff in all areas. We depend on our volunteers to help us meet the needs of our customers. Training will be provided for all positions.

Positions Available:

 

Office Support

Technical

Data Entry

Projects include data entry into online library database, maintenance of electronic library catalog, Excel spreadsheets, and Word tables.

Machine Repair*

Repair and maintenance of Talking Book equipment (tools provided).

Filing

Alpha and numeric.

Recording Positions

Record local interest books and magazines.

  • Narrator

    Narrates books and magazines of local interest. Anyone wishing to apply for this position must pass a narration audition test.

  • Monitor*

    Operates computer with digital audio recording software, while following the narration in a print copy of the text.

  • Reviewer*

    Operates computer with digital audio recording software. Proof read previously recorded material.

Bulk Mailing

Projects support material requests.

Circulation*

  • Inspect and shelve returned materials
  • Recycle shipping containers and cassette tapes
  • Clean exteriors of Talking Book machines

Time Required:

To be elgible for any of these positions you must commit 2-4 hours per week during library hours, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
