System Changes / Project Priorities

On occasion we run system updates and upgrades on the software underlying the e-branch system. More often than not these upgrades represent performance improvements and usability enhancements. As with any change, though, users may be surprised to notice that an option or feature has moved or gone away.

About the e-Branch System

Powered by Drupal

The e-Branch system is built on top of the Drupal content management platform and is administered and maintained by the Idaho Commission for Libraries.

Drupal is an extremely flexible open source program that is over five years old, has a gigantic user community, and can be used to develop a wide variety of web sites with rich functionality.

Glossary

Accessibility - Providing access to web resources for users of all abilities. Specifically, design that takes into account the needs of individuals with disabilities, such as vision impairments.

Aggregator - In this context, software that collects newsfeeds for use in a web site. Related terms: blog, podcast, RSS,syndication.

E-Branch-in-a-Box Training

E-branch in a Box Fall Training Schedule

The Idaho Commission for Libraries will provide a half-day update training session for all current e-Branch in a Box users. This is a great opportunity to brush up on development and troubleshooting skills for the e-Branch administrators. You will have an opportunity to work on your own site customization issues.

Ebranch in a BoxE-branch in a Box is an initiative from the Idaho Commission for Libraries (ICFL) to assist Idaho libraries in having a web presence, which is defined as having a vital website that is an extension of the library providing information about or access to library services.

e-branch training

ICFL Staff have been on the road with the e-branch in a box workshops. E-branch in a box utilizes Drupal, a content management system. ICFL staff have created templates for libraries so they can create and update their own e-branch sites. E-branch uses a web-based interface for adding and updating website content.
