The Western States Preservation and Assistance Service (WESTPAS) will be presenting a two-part preservation workshop for all Idaho libraries, museums and cultural institutions this summer in Boise at the Idaho Commission for Libraries.  Register today for this hands-on workshop -- take-aways include a pocket disaster response plan, a better understanding of disaster recovery resources available in your area, and a new appreciation for disaster preparedness.

The American Library Association (ALA) encourages libraries to use Preservation Week to connect our communities through events, activities, and resources that highlight what we can do, individually and together, to preserve our personal and shared collections.  Some ways to get involved:

Staff from libraries of all sizes across Idaho are invited to the Connecting to Collections Workshop at Boise Public Library on November 19, 2010. This will be an opportunity for staff from Idaho libraries, museums, archives, and records offices to come together to discuss the issues surrounding the preservation of materials, disaster planning, and next steps in building the knowledge base on preservation topics. Western States Preservation Assistance Service is once again collaborating with the Idaho Commission for Libraries to present a two-part workshop on disaster planning and preservation for libraries and archives in Idaho. Dates are August 5 and September 18 and the workshop location will be the Idaho Commission for Libraries in Boise.
