Bright Futures Summer Reading Opportunities: Reaching Underserved Children
Partner with one or more agencies or organizations in your community. Together with your partner organization, plan at least two programs to be held outside the library in June, July and/or August that target underserved children*. You will receive paperback books suitable for your program audience to be given away to children attending the off-site programs.
First Book
Read to Me First Book targets children ages birth to seven who are unlikely to have many books in their homes or have a library card. The program provides a book a month for nine months for each participating child, and First Book families can participate in a free early literacy workshop.
