Donations. Your library probably receives a LOT of donations. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out what to do with them. Can you add them to your collection? Can your Friends group sell them in a book sale or online? Should they go straight to the trash bin?
During the January LITT: Collection Development chat, we will try something new: we will do a live donation unboxing. Here’s how it works:
- Bring a box of materials that have been donated to your library
- Turn your camera on, and we will all unbox the donations together
We will talk about what your community donated to the library, where it would fit in your collection (if at all), and what you should do next. It will be fun! And you will get a task accomplished while also chatting with other collection development folks from around the state.

LITT stands for Libraries in Idaho Talking Trends. LITT Chats offer library staff from around Idaho the chance to meet each other and share their experiences. As always, this LITT chat will NOT be recorded. A summary of the discussion, along with any links or resources shared in the chat, will be sent out on LibIdaho following the event.
