Libraries rely on outside vendors in many ways. They provide public catalog access, book purchasing, tech needs, and more. Managing relationships with your library’s vendors can be tricky. You need access to their products, excellent customer and technical service, and to be mindful of how you spend your library’s budget. Your vendor partners need revenue for their company and a solid customer base. Sometimes everyone’s needs are in alignment. And sometimes they aren’t. During this month’s LITT: Collection Development chat we will discuss how to manage relationships with library vendors. We’ll share experiences with different vendors and talk about strategies for negotiating pricing, what to look for when considering new vendors, and more. Do you have thoughts or questions about library vendors? Join the conversation!
