Natalie Babbitt fans might recognize this quote from Tuck Everlasting, “The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning.” In Libraryland, the “pause in the turning” wraps up summer reading programs (listen for the collective sigh of relief from public librarians everywhere), and school and academic librarians are enjoying the last weeks of summer break and anticipating the new school year.
