The 2017 Public Library Directors’ Summit was held on March 2 and 3 at the Red Lion Downtowner Hotel in Boise, Idaho. Fifty-one public library directors gathered for two days of focusing on re-thinking libraries and connecting with current library trends. Phil Eastman, Leadership Advisors, Inc., served as facilitator as well as led a discussion on leadership-driven strategic planning.
Miguel Figueroa, Director of the Center for the Future of Libraries, presented some intriguing thoughts regarding future trends, plus led the group in a futuring exercise. More information about the trends can be found at http://www.ala.org/transforminglibraries/future/trends.
The group discussed issues identified at the 2016 Summit, as well as categorized key topics for this summer’s Trustee Connections events. Time was spent sharing ideas, networking, and building relations with directors throughout the state.
