The Idaho Commission for Libraries’ Supporting Beginning Readers workshop is a fun, relaxed, one-day workshop designed to help librarians get ready for young readers in the fall. It is open to all school library staff who work in Idaho’s publicly funded elementary schools and is especially helpful to those who are newer to the school library setting.
The agenda will cover:
- early literacy development and school library support
- circulation policies that increase access to books
- choosing high-quality books for young readers
- getting the most bang for your buck when purchasing library books
- weeding
- motivating kids to read
- an introduction to Novelist Plus K-8
- out-of-school learning
- services offered to school libraries from ICfL.
And there might be a free book or two in it for your library!
