General Programming Resources
Teen Connection Kits
During the COVID-19 pandemic, teens have experienced unprecedented levels of social isolation. They have also missed out on the opportunity to build important life skills. Teen Connection Kits are tools for libraries to help teens reestablish social connections and create learning experiences to help them build practical skills and resiliency. Click here to learn more about the kits.
Idaho Teen Reading Challenge
Idaho public and school libraries can engage teens and encourage them to read something new. This program challenges teens to read eight books in eight different categories in seven months (October – April). Click here to learn more and register your library.
Getting Started with Discord Toolkit
Jenny Liebig, Meridian Library District Teen Specialist, created this Getting Started with Discord Toolkit for the ICfL in 2021. If you have questions about what Discord is, or how to use it in your library, start here.
Author Visit Toolkit
Idaho Librarian Gregory Taylor created this Author Visit Toolkit for the ICfL in 2020. It’s full of useful advice for hosting an author at your school or library.
Graphic Novel Bookmarks
Graphic novels are real reading for all ages. They have complex plots, characters, and conflicts combined with images that support development, learning, and reading comprehension. Download a set of bookmarks to print off here.
Programming HQ
Find and share library programs at YALSA’s Programming HQ. Connect with others who plan, implement, and evaluate teen library programs by sharing and discussing programming ideas.
Teen Librarian Toolbox
Teen Librarian Toolbox (TLT) is a professional development website for teen librarians, created by Karen Jensen and collecting the experience of four MLS librarians and over 50 collective years of library work. Our mission is to help libraries serving teens (and anyone who cares about teens) and to foster a community of professional development and resource sharing by providing quality information, discussions, book reviews and more.
Programming Librarian
ProgrammingLibrarian.org provides the resources, connections and opportunities libraries need to fill their role as centers of cultural and civic life. It is a place for library professionals to share, learn and be inspired to present excellent programming for their communities. Through resources, ideas and professional development opportunities, we seek to help libraries fill their role as cultural and civic hubs in their communities.
