Register for a Read to Me training near you:

The Read to Me team at ICfL will be offering regional training this spring for youth services staff working in Idaho libraries (school librarians are welcome).  This one-day training is free to attend and lunch will be provided for all participants (travel expenses not included).  You can select from the following locations/dates:

  • Friday, March 29th, Pocatello, at the Clarion Inn (reg. deadline: 3/21 at 5:00 pm)
  • Friday, April 12th, Boise, at the Oxford Suites (reg. deadline: 4/5 at 5:00 pm)
  • Thursday, May 2nd*, Moscow, at the Best Western/University Inn (reg. deadline: 4/24 at 5:00 pm)
    • *(Note date change since the 1/10 issue of the Scoop was shared: this training was moved from 5/3 to 5/2 due to WSU graduation and lack of mtg/hotel availability.)

This training will offer participants some back-to-the-basics training on Storytimes (as many have been requesting), showcase a variety of programs and how to evaluate them, and offer a preview of some new program opportunities. View our draft agenda to help you determine which sessions to attend:

Draft Spring RTM Training Agenda:

Morning (8:30-12:00) –

  • Basic Storytime Training (By Tammy Hawley-House and Jennifer Redford) – 3 hours

Lunch & sharing of preliminary impact/results from ICfL’s Kindergarten Readiness Grants, regional Grantee (12:00-1:00)

Afternoon (1:00-5:00) –

  • Learn about NASA @ My Library Grant program opportunities, kits and (hopefully) a regional NASA Ambassador speaker
  • Sharing of new kindergarten/school readiness opportunities/activities to be supported by ICfL
  • Program Evaluation – examples of how to evaluate: Summer Reading, Summer STEM Grant, NASA, Storytimes
  • Roundtable: Youth Services topics/sharing/networking
  • A surprise maker activity to cool you off this summer – you don’t want to miss this

Participants may register for the morning, the afternoon or the entire day. At this time, the training is limited to 2 library staff persons per training, however you can send 2 staff for the morning session and 2 different staff for the afternoon session. Note, a total of only 2 staff can register for lunch until the event date is closer.  At that time, if we have availability for hosting more participants for the lunch hour, we will let you know.
