We are happy to announce that ICfL is once again partnering with the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) to offer free state park passes to Idaho libraries hosting summer reading programs for children and teens.
The Youth Explorer Passes from Idaho State Parks will waive the entry fee for one vehicle for one day to any Idaho state park. The passes may be used for summer reading in a variety of ways: Distribute when children sign up for summer reading; give out as prizes for summer reading; take to outreach events.
IDPR and ICfL share a common goal to reach those hard-to-reach children and families– for the libraries, the goal is to keep them reading and learning; for State Parks it is to get them outdoors and enjoy adventures in our state parks. No Child Left Behind, and No Child Left Inside! Please help us meet this goal by targeting those hard-to-reach families. These passes are not to be used for in-house storytimes or programming.
The only requirements are:
- Must be used for the library’s summer reading program as an incentive to read over the summer.
- Must be distributed to children ages birth – 18 for youth summer reading.
- Must be an Idaho library (public, volunteer, or community).
- Participating libraries will also need to stamp each pass with library name and date, and make sure child’s name is written on pass.
We are not providing passes to school libraries or schools at this time. If you are a school library with no public or volunteer library nearby, please contact Jennifer Redford for possible options.
State Parks Pass Order Form is CLOSED for the season
We will begin shipping orders in March. We will also send a poster to promote the passes, and additional copies of the poster can be printed from the PDF below.
